Very eye-catching Australian aboriginal Kimberley Art/
folk art
hand carved boab nut featuring etched sea turtle, lizard, fish,
sacred Wandjina faces/heads
and many other intricate design elements surrounding the images.  Several
people/language groups of the
north-west region of the Kimberley in Australia consider the Wandjina to be the supreme creator and a powerful rain maker.  Design elements of a Wandjina can represent many different climatic (types of storm) features.
This was retailed by the Norval Gallery in Derby, Western Australia
.  It has the original hang tag.  This carving has been signed with the initials of the artisan NW.  This is truly a unique one-of-a-kind gift.
Very good to excellent used condition.  This has some scuffs to the outer surface layer.  The more noticeable are at the top and bottom of the nut.  There are a few in the etched design area.  We believe these are production inclusions based on the natural condition of this nut prior to carving but we cannot say for certain.
