Bru Jne Large 30" Leon Casimir Repro Porcelain Bisque Collette Doll AntiqueThis doll was
originally made in 1875 by Leon Casimir
from what I was told and I almost thought this one was the original but I am quite sure she is a very
exquisitely
made reproduction by a very advanced and expert doll maker
Her
eyes are more blue than my camera would show and they swirl around inside like a paperweight
and are very pretty (much more than the photo shows)
This
very large 30-31" porcelain bisque
hand made doll is from an 1875 Leon Casimir doll and I was told
her name is Collette
She
is marked on the
back of her neck "Bru Jne 13"
She is made of bisque or p
orcelain (I'm not sure how to tell the difference)
She has a
bisque head and hands and legs and a cloth body
Her
eyes are large and up close they look like swirled paperweights - the glass is round
and colored blue and I was told she has a
classic Bru look to the eyes
especially as
they are oversized and I was told that the Casimir dolls had a crossed eyed look and she does look a bit cross eyed to me so the person who made this one was meticulous in the detailed workmanship
Her hair (wig) looks like
human hair
to me and
smells like human hair
and it looks very finely made on the inside and outside with nice curls all over
She is
posable including her head can be turned either way
She has a
'hint' of a tongue in between her slightly parted lips
She is very
meticulously hand painted
with amazing details (see
even her tear ducts are painted
in and her
toe nails are even colored pink
She has earrings and a pretty heart necklace that opens up as a locket
Her
head is proportioned very exactly to the body
and she
looks like a real child
The
shoes are real leather
with little pearl buttons
She has a
bisque shoulder plate and the head is separate from it and goes into the shoulder plate
(please see photos)
She has
fine stockings
on her legs
Her dress is amazing and has a bussle in the back that has a
number of layers of cloth
(please see the photos)
Her
ears are pierced
with tiny little earring in them (see photos)
One of her hands has
parted fingers
(see photo)
Her
dress appears to be either silk or satin (
not sure how to tell the difference really) but either way I can't figure out how to get it off so did my best to show her undergarments in the photos without the dress off
There is
not even a hairline crack anywhere
on this doll and I checked her out more than once very carefully
She is so carefully and meticulously made that I had a hard time telling if it was a really well kept original or a repro (I am not a doll collector so I do not know what to look for when it comes to dolls, antique or reproductions - I was told when I bought her many years ago that she was a reproduction of an important 1875 original Leon Casimir doll and this is also written on the tag by the person who sold her to me - I think she came out of a doll collection and really have no idea who the maker is or when she was made but I bought her many years ago and she is still brand new as I never had her on display but just carefully packed away - She appears to me to be in 'mint' condition
This doll is
30-31" tall
and is marked on the back of her neck "Bru Jne 13" ---------She is made of bisque or p
orcelain (I'm not sure how to tell the difference)
