This is the ideal boat cover support system. It combines economy with performance, and is incredibly easy to use. Plan on taking 30 minutes or so to set it up the first time, then 10 minutes or less from then on to put it into place. Pictures describe this system better than words, but this is simply a telescoping pole with a plastic disc on each end for stability. For additional stability, four straps hold it in place. The purpose of this system is just to provide a frame or backbone to support the cover. Since water is incredibly heavy, especially in bulk, the purpose of this or any other support system is to tent or prop up the cover, so water can run off. This does that exceptionally well, as the pole provides a peak, but the straps provide 'ridge lines', sort of like on a roof, and sets up the water shed process beautifully. The discs are approximately 6" in diameter. The disc that goes on top has slots to hold the straps. The disc that goes on the bottom does not have slots. It is solid. The poles are adjustable from about 3' to about 5', and the biggest/outermost pole is approximately 1" in diameter.
Most v-hull, fishing, ski type boats will only need one support system. Most pontoon/deck style boats up to 22-24' will only need one, while larger pontoon boats from 22' up to 28' or so will normally need 2 systems. If you need 2, they are easy to join together, and the instructions cover that process well. Speaking of instructions, comprehensive instructions are included. Please feel free to call or email with any questions. We will be glad to help.
Pretty much any boat cover needs a good support system. We firmly believe this to be the best one on the market. The only other one we recommend would be a custom made one from pvc pipe, etc, but given that these are reasonably priced, simple, durable, and strong, we don't know why one would bother with alternatives.

If you have new seats, especially new white vinyl seats, or recently recovered seats, especially seats recovered in white marine vinyl, please read this. Please consider a lightly colored cover, such as beige or grey. The chemicals in marine vinyl, especially new, unseasoned white marine vinyl, are known to pull the dye out of of certain fabrics, including darkly colored boat covers. The process is called 'crocking', and is widely covered on the internet. It is for this same reason, you would not want to put a wet swimsuit, jeans, etc, on new marine vinyl. The color can transfer from one surface to another. The result could be stained seats. So, please consider a lightly colored cover. We really like the beige and grey, not only for this reason, but for a host of other reasons, also. It is impossible for this crocking or color transfer process to transfer with these lighter colors. As always, with any questions, feel free to call us. You will get a real person who can answer your questions. We call it 'real people, real answers'! 1-800-309-5190
